William Strand, MD is a native of Minnesota, and received his Bachelors degree of Chemical Engineering (with High Distinction) at the University of Minnesota, Institute of Technology in 1979.
He attended Mayo Medical School in Rochester, Minnesota, and received his Medical degree in 1983. He fulfilled Surgical internship at the Naval Regional Medical Center, San Diego, California in 1984, and then Urology residency at the National Naval Medical Center, Bethesda, Maryland in 1988.
Pediatric Urology Fellowship was completed at the Children’s Memorial Hospital (Northwestern University Medical System), Chicago, Illinois in 1989.
Dr. Strand then served as Pediatric Urology staff at the Naval Hospital, Oakland, California and the Naval Regional Medical Center, San Diego, California until 1994 (he retired from service in the United States Navy Reserve in 2004, achieving the rank of Captain: 06, and receiving the Navy Commendation Medal, Navy Achievement Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Humanitarian Award and the National Defense Medal).
Dr. Strand joined the Urology faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and Pediatric Urology staff at Children’s Medical Center Dallas and Texas Scottish Right Hospital for Children in 1995.
He entered private practice in pediatric urology with North Texas Pediatric Urology Associates in 2004.
He has been consistently chosen as a Top Doctor in America by Castle Connolly Medical, and consistently featured as Castle Connolly Medical’s America’s Top Doctors®, Texas Monthly’s Super Doctors, and D Magazine “Best Pediatric Specialists”.
He is certified by the American Board of Urology with a Special Certificate of added Qualification in Pediatric Urology.
